What to Expect

Welcome to Professor Tvelia's ESC102 course website. Throughout this course we will study the Earth; its origin, structure, composition and most importantly, the forces which shape its surface. Plate tectonics will provide the framework for understanding how processes such as volcanism and mountain building have shaped the world in which we live. Starting at the birth of our solar system, 4.6 billion years ago, we will use geologic concepts and observations of the world around us to interpret the past and trace Earth's evolution from just another space rock to the planet we know today.

From this site you have access to all of my notes and presentations. All lecture notes are posted as Word Documents and as such you will need to have either a current version of Microsoft Word or Internet Explorer 5.0 or greater installed on your computer to view/print these files. Caution! Lecture notes are simply my talking points and therfore do not contain much information. If you wish to use them please use them just as a guide in your own studies. All lecture presentations are posted as html files and are linked on the "Lecture Presentation" menu option above.
